STS Submerged Aerated Filters |
_
STS SUBMERGED AERATED FILTERS(SAF) is designed to reduce the amount of BOD and ammonia nitrogen in settled sewage and industrial effluents. Aerated effluent is made to flow through submerged media, which acts as a physical support for the growth of microorganisms. The media may be high voidage corrugated crossflow PVC, coarse sand, expanded shale, pozzolanic material, buoyant plastic or graded blast furnace slag. Submerged aerated filters can be seeded with bacterial cultures to accelerate start-up.
TETRA's SAF
Tetra's SAF is a biological reactor for the oxidation of CBOD and ammonium. In the treatment process, wastewater and process air are fed in through the bottom of the reactor and both flow upward through a bed of coarse media. Micro-organisms grow on the media and biologically remove undesirable constituents in the wastewater. The system is extremely tolerant of variations in the biological loadings. The media is supported by TETRA's patented "T" Blocks™ and the process air is fed through a "nozzleless" lateral system constructed of stainless steel. The TETRA underdrain and air distribution system is highly effective in distributing air and water. With no moving parts and durable materials of construction, TETRA's SAF underdrain will ensure many years of trouble free operation.
