"Ahron Nahmias: A true leader and family man"
With his background as a Chemical Engineer, and his previous work experiences, Ahron was able to set the gold standard for distribution and agency firms. His model for success is very well respected by many globally recognized manufacturers and emulated by companies of similar interests. His philosophy was “Do not sell just the metering pump or just the analyzer; rather, sell the complete system. Be responsible for the complete system.” With this model, Metcon became trend setters by building complete chemical feed and instrument systems to simplify the design, installation, and operation for their clients.
Ahron always believed in selling quality equipment backed up by quality service. One of his often told stories described a time when he had just started the company and he was performing repairs on a piece of equipment over a holiday weekend. The operator at the site asked him why he was doing this, where was his service technician. Ahron replied “I can’t afford to hire a service technician.” The customer advised him “You can’t afford NOT to hire one”. From that point on, Ahron realized that the only way to make Metcon sustainable and self-sufficient was to maintain an industry leading service team.
Ahron was a believer in giving back to the Water and Waste Water industry. He supported many industry charities and supported his staff endeavors to give back to the industry in different ways. He was a member of both the OWWA & WEAO, and he encouraged his staff to volunteer with the local and provincial committees for each association as well.
It was clear to anyone who knew Ahron, in business or personal, that he centered his life around his three daughters, two son in laws, three granddaughters and his wife Fern. He demonstrated to them what was most important in life; to prioritize and cherish time spent with family. He had a zest for life and a passion for travelling, music, theatre, nature, the ocean, concerts, art, and sports. He worked very hard, but he also enjoyed life and the simple pleasures. It filled his heart to share his passions and experiences with his family.
Ahron leaves behind a strong legacy in his family, who adore him dearly and will never forget the amazing, selfless and good hearted man he was.
Metcon and the industry lost a great leader and friend. Ahron will be missed but his legacy of providing top notch products with a premium level of service will remain.
